FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Cool temps and rain chances for Thursday

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Temps are cooling off and we have a good chance of rain for Thursday.

FIRST ALERT HEADLINES

• Rain showers move in late tonight with lows in the mid 60s, chance of rain is 60%.
• Upper 60s for Thursday with an 80% chance of rain showers throughout the day.
• Temperatures are cool with highs in the upper 60s Thursday as eastern flow rules.
• Some places could get up to an inch of rain.
• We see more showers for Friday morning, right now the chances are around 50%.
• A cold front comes in for the weekend and brings another chance of rain.

FIRST ALERT WEATHER SUMMARY

We’ve got a chance of some rain showers later tonight as a cold front slowly moves south and a low pressure system develops off our coast. Lows are in the mid 60s with a 60% chance of rain, mainly after midnight.

Thursday the front pushes south and east flow rules as high pressure is just off the mid-Atlantic coast. The eastern flow and the 80% chance of rain cools our temperatures with highs in the upper 60s. Expect rain on and off throughout the day. Some areas could get up to around and inch of rain.

The rain showers linger into the morning Friday. It’s a 50% chance for the morning hours before we see things clear up by the afternoon with high temps reaching the mid 70s.

Saturday we have a cold front approaching. Before it gets here our temps rise into the low 80s. There’s a 30% chance of showers and storms.

Sunday the front arrives and brings a 40% chance of rain and storms. Lows are in the mid 60s and highs reach the low 80s.

We are a little warmer Monday with a 20% chance of an afternoon shower or storm. High pressure builds back over the region from the north.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST

Tonight: A few isolated storms this evening, then some rain showers after midnight. Chance of rain is 60% and low temps are in the mid 60s.

Thursday: Cooler with highs around 69. Mainly cloudy with rain showers around at times. Chance of rain is 80%.

Friday: A few early showers (50% chance) to increasing breaks of sun into the afternoon. Highs nearing 75 degrees.

Saturday: Partly cloudy with highs again in the mid-80s. A stray storm can’t be ruled out, 30% chance of afternoon thunder..

Sunday: Partial sunshine with a 40% chance of showers possible. Highs in the low 80s.

Monday: Highs are in the low 80s with a 20% chance of showers and storms.

Tuesday: Low 80s with partly cloudy skies.
