FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Humidity drops tonight, but we heat up for the weekend

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Temperatures are cooling off as a cold front pushes through the region tonight.

FIRST ALERT HEADLINES.

• Lows tonight are in the mid 60s and there’s a 40% chance of some evening gusty storms.
• Drier and cooler air moves in behind a front and brings highs down to 83 Wednesday.
• We have mid 80s Thursday with partly cloudy skies.
• We gradually warm up Friday to the upper 80s with sun and clouds.
• More heat is looking more likely for Mother’s Day weekend with highs in the low 90s for Saturday and mid 90s Sunday.

FIRST ALERT WEATHER SUMMARY

We see a cold front move into the region tonight bringing a 40% chance of showers and storms to the region during the evening hours. Drier and cooler air filters in tonight lowering temps into the mid 60s.

Skies are mostly sunny Wednesday and the humidity is lower as high pressure builds from the northeast. It brings a northeast flow that cools our temps down nicely.

Lows are in the upper 50s Thursday and a warm front nears from the south. All the front will do is bring a few more clouds. Highs reach the mid 80s for the afternoon.

Upper 80s Friday with partly cloudy skies. Lows are in the upper 50s.

The warm front moves north and brings highs in the low 90s again Saturday. Morning lows are in the low 60s. Mother’s day is going to be HOT with highs reach the mid 90s. There’s a bit more humidity which brings a 20% chance of a few showers and storms.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST

Tonight: Few evening storms, 40% chance. Lows are in the mid 60s.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with highs in the low 80s.

Thursday: More sunshine again with highs again in the mid-80s.

Friday: Partly cloudy and very warm with highs in the upper 80s.

Saturday: Hotter with a good deal of sun. Highs around 90 degrees or just above.

Mother’s Day: Hot. Highs in the mid 90s with more humidity and a 20% chance of showers and storms.

Monday: Low 90s with a 40% chance of showers and storms.
