FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Mid week hot temps, then a cool & wet weekend in store

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - We see a few showers this evening and then skies clear and temps dramatically warm up for your Tuesday.

FIRST ALERT HEADLINES

• Upper 50s tonight with a 30% chance of showers, skies clear up as the early morning progresses.
• Temps surge into the mid 80s for the afternoon Tuesday.
• Our hottest day will be Wednesday with high temps near 88, skies are partly cloudy.
• A cold front brings a chance of storms for Thursday afternoon, chances are near 40%.
• Temps cool off Friday into the upper 60s with a 70% chance of rain as the front stalls.
• Our chilliest day is Saturday with highs in the mid 50s with an 80% chance of showers.

FIRST ALERT SUMMARY

Temps are mild tonight with lows in the upper 50s. A warm front moves to the north and provides clouds and a 30% chance of some lingering showers.

Tuesday is WARM! The warm front pushes north and highs reach the mid 80s. We have partly cloudy skies throughout the morning and then sunshine by the afternoon.

We see a surge of warm air coming from the south Wednesday. This bumps our temps up a bit. Lows are in the mid 60s and highs reach the upper 80s. Expect partly cloudy skies.

We stay warm Thursday as a cold front nears. We are still in the warm sector of the low pressure system to our northwest. This gets our temps into the mid 80s and we have a 40% chance of showers and storms during the afternoon and evening.

The cold front stalls over the region Friday and brings a 70% chance of rain showers. Lows are in the mid 60s and highs reach the upper 60s, so much cooler as we will be on the cool side of the stationary boundary.

High pressure to our north will bring a northeast flow. The cold air will dam against the mountains and bring chilly and dreary weather for Saturday. Lows are near 50 and highs reach the mid 50s. Chance of rain showers is 80%.

Easter looks wet and cool as well, but temps climb a bit into the 60s, there’s a 60% chance of showers.

Tonight: Upper 50s with a 30% chance of showers this evening, clearing later tonight.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy and warmer. Highs reach the mid-80s.

Wednesday: Good deal of sun with highs pushing to the upper 80s.

Thursday: Warm again with highs in the mid-80s with some scattered showers and storms during the afternoon and evening (40% chance).

Friday: Scattered showers continue on with cooler highs in the mid to upper 60s. Chance of rain is 70%.

Saturday: Chilly and wet with lows near 50 and highs around 54. Chance of rain is 80%.

Easter: Cool and wet with lows in the upper 40s and highs in the low to mid 60s.
