BETHUNE, S.C. (WIS) - The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office says a toddler that was taken from his legal guardian’s home without permission has been found safe and returned home.

Jasper Garcia, 3, was allegedly taken by his non-custodial mother from the child’s home in Bethune.

Early Wednesday morning, the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office chased a vehicle into North Carolina and arrested Vanessa Weatherford. Jasper was taken back home.

“The safety of Jasper was our main concern throughout this investigation. We are happy he is now safe. The consequences of his mother’s actions will be handled accordingly,” said Sheriff Lee Boan.
