COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - We’ve got a 30% chance of some storms Saturday afternoon/evening and a 20% chance Sunday. The big story next week is the hot temps near 100 and humid conditions.

First Alert Summary

We have lower humidity this evening and temperatures tonight dip down to the upper 60s. High pressure is slowly moving over the region.

But aloft there’s a small wave in the jet stream and that sparks a weak low pressure system that arrives from west to east Saturday. It brings more humidity and more clouds too. There’s a 30% chance of some showers and storms, mainly south and east of I 20. High temps are near 90 for the afternoon hours.

Sunday we have a 20% chance of showers and thunder for the afternoon and high temperatures reach the mid 90s. A stationary boundary sits to our southeast and will fire off a few storms in the late afternoon/evening.

We see temperatures soar into the upper 90s Monday with a 20% chance of showers and storms. Lows are in the mid 70s and highs reach the upper 90s. A large ridge of high pressure is building over the region and will provide plenty of heat and humidity for Monday through Wednesday.

There’s a 20-30% chance of showers and storms each afternoon for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday because of the amount of heat and humidity building.

In the Tropics, conditions are quiet for now.

Tonight: Partly cloudy and not as humid with lows in the upper 60s.

Saturday: A 30% chance for some late showers and storms with highs in the upper 80s to near 90.

Sunday: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy with a 20% chance of a few afternoon storms and highs in the low 90s. A touch more humidity.

Monday: Humid and hot with highs in the upper 90s and a 20% chance of rain and storms.

Tuesday: Hot and humid with highs around 100 with a 30% chance of some afternoon thunder.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy and hot with high humidity and a 20% chance of afternoon storms. Highs are near 99.
