CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Coast Guard says a man who fell off his boat in Cooper River Monday night was able to make it safely to shore.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston received word from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 11 p.m. that the man had fallen out of his boat but was able to swim to shore at Remley’s Point in Mount Pleasant, Lt. Emily Trudeau said.

The sheriff’s office said a dog on the boat was also safe.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded near the USS Yorktown at approximately 9:40 p.m. to a report of a boat doing circles in the water.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit assisted the Coast Guard in the search.
