MAYESVILLE, S.C. (WIS) - One person is dead and another was injured after what deputies are calling, an alcohol-related verbal dispute in Mayesville.

The shooting happened Thursday night around 10:30, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and EMS arrived at the incident along Fourth Street and found two victims. One was rushed to a nearby medical facility and the other was life-flighted to a hospital in Florence.

Investigators were able to arrest a suspect at the scene. Cory Dingle, of Mayesville, is charged with murder and attempted murder.

One victim has been listed as in critical but stable condition and the second victim died as a result of their injuries. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.

The investigation is ongoing and deputies expect to have more information soon.
