INMAN, S.C. (WYFF) - Three students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after part of a school bus ended up in a ditch Thursday morning, according to the Spartanburg School District One spokeswoman.

Sandra Williams said the bus was carrying students from Inman Elementary, Inman Intermediate, Mabry Middle and Chapman High.

Williams said about 6:45 a.m. the driver was making a turn on North Main Street from Pineview Drive and the front end of the bus went into a ditch.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the school bus driver made an improper left turn and was charged.

Troopers said there were 44 students on the bus.

Students on the bus were taken to Mabry Middle School while law enforcement checked out the bus, Williams said.

Williams said the students were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
