Body of missing Lake Murray boater found after nearly 12-day search
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The body of 36-year-old Neil Grantham has been found after a multi-day search, according to the Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.
Grantham went missing on Tuesday, October 26 after he left home at night and got on his boat, according to officials.
While his boat was found on that same Tuesday afternoon near Spence’s point, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department says they spent nearly 12 days searching for Grantham by air, land, and water.
Fisher says she will release more details at a later time.
Grantham’s family is honoring his memory by building a playground that is a safe haven for local families. To help fund the project, they have started a GoFundMe page.
Viewers sent WIS pictures of the moments Lexington deputies pulled Grantham’s boat from the water and of a helicopter assisting with the search.
“After the boat was found, the helicopter was searching the water in the open area around Bomb Island and in the cove behind Spence Road,” said Holly Patterson, who lives nearby.
