Missing teen at center of Silver Alert found safe in Kings Mountain

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WBTV) - Police in Kings Mountain have found a missing 14-year-old girl safe after she was previously considered to be endangered.
A Silver Alert was issued for Amelia Caroline Upton, who goes by Amy. She was last seen in the area of Groves Street and Katherine Avenue, near Cleveland Avenue.
Upton has since been found and is safe.
“Thank you to Kings Mountain Police and all other agencies that have assisted,” the City of Kings Mountain wrote in a Facebook post.
Police say she had been diagnosed with autism and another cognitive impairment, and said there was no reason to believe Upton could be a considered a runaway.
