WALHALLA, S.C. (WIS) - An Upstate woman faces hundreds of charges after a criminal sexual conduct investigation by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, officials said Tuesday.

Janice Allen, 37, of Longcreek, faces 17 counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and 202 counts of disseminating harmful material to a minor, according to Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt.

Watt said Allen turned herself in to deputies Tuesday afternoon and was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center.

The investigation only involved one minor, according to Watt.

The investigation began on May 19 after a school resource officer received reports of sexual offenses, Watt said.

The investigation found that Allen and the victim engaged in sexual relations during a time period between January 2020 and May 2021, according to Watt. Investigators also found Allen gave obscene material to the minor from February of 2020 to May of 2021.

No other information will be released about the investigation to protect the identity of the victim, Watt said.

Allen remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a combined $542,000 surety bond.
