COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - We are venturing to another side of our community in today’s Talkin’ Trash Tuesday.

To Gaston in Lexington County we go ahead of this weekend’s Spotless Service Saturday cleanup event - hosted by Keep the Midlands Beautiful.

Laura Blake-Orr is with Keep the Midlands Beautiful. She is the Core Programs Administrator for the organization.

The group started the Spotless Service Saturday initiative to address highly-littered roads in the Columbia area with monthly cleanups from 9 am -12 pm.  Cleanup locations rotate each month in the three areas KMB serves - Richland County, Lexington County, and the City of Columbia.

This event grew from a collaboration with the University of South Carolina’s Service Saturday and student volunteers will be in attendance. The next Spotless Service Saturday cleanup event is this Saturday, April 3 from 9 a.m. to noon on Fish Hatchery Road in Lexington County.

Keep the Midlands Beautiful provides the supplies like trash bags, litter grabbers, safety vests, and gloves. Learn more at https://keepthemidlandsbeautiful.org/ or call 803-733-1139.
