RALEIGH, N.C. (WYFF) - Searchers on Monday found the body of a 5-year-old boy who fell into a river in North Carolina.
Authorities said the boy was on a fishing trip with his father, who is missing after he jumped into the water to try and save the boy.
The body of 5-year-old Braylin Holman was recovered in the Neuse River, news outlets reported.
Wayne County spokesman Joel Gillie said authorities received a call on Wednesday from someone who said they saw a father and son fishing from a dock at the Goldsboro Boating Access along U.S. 117 when the child fell in and the father jumped in after him.
The search continues for 38-year-old Sterling Holman.
Gillie said the water is about 10 feet deep at that part of the river.
