NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WIS) - Victaria Saxton had 20 points and four other South Carolina had three other players in double figures on their way to a 106-43 win over Vanderbilt.
The fifth-ranked Gamecocks (9-1, 4-0) got off to a fast start outsourcing the Commodores 17-4 within the first five minutes of the contest.
Saxton did the bulk of her scoring in the opening quarter. She dropped 11 of her 20 in the first period.
The Gamecocks’ defense tightened up in the second quarter holding Vandy scoreless for the period. The Commodores were 0-for-16 from the floor as the Gamecocks extended their lead to 49-13 at the break.
Carolina finished the contest outsourcing Vandy 57-30.
Brea Beal helped the winning cause for Carolina with 17 points while Destanni Henderson added 12 points and nine assists in the win.
Laeticia Amihere finished the night with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Carolina will host Arkansas at 7 p.m. on Monday.
