Woman dies after car hits tree, catches fire in Kershaw County

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A Kershaw County woman has died after her car crashed in the woods.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after 6 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. Highway 1 near Mecklenburg Road.
A woman was traveling south on U.S. 1 in a 2004 Mitsubishi when the car when off the left side of the road, overturned, and hit a tree. Moments after the crash, the vehicle caught fire while the woman was trapped inside.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman who died in the crash was identified as 50-year-old Rosemary Johnson.
SCHP will continue to investigate the crash.
