Newberry Hospital not allowing visitors due to surge in COVID-19 cases

NEWBERRY, S.C. (WIS) - Starting January 12, visitors will not be allowed to enter Newberry Hospital.

The announcement comes after a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Hospital officials have asked that one family member be designated to receive updates about patients who are receiving care in the hospital. Updates will be provided by a doctor or staff member as they become available.

Also, the hospital is warning patients of possible higher wait times and possible exposure to COVID-19 in its emergency department due to the high volume of COVID-19 cases.
