COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A former Sumter Gamecock has received national recognition for his efforts on the gridiron.

Georgia Tech’s Pressley Harvin III has been named the winner of the 2020 Ray Guy Award.

The award is given to the top punter in college football.

Harvin had 45 punts this year and averaged 48 yards per attempt, which was the best mark in the country this year. The Yellow Jackets senior also landed 18 punts inside the 20 and had 22 attempts that traveled 50 yards or more.

Harvin finished his career as the third Georgia Tech player ever to be named a unanimous All-American.

He was also an All-ACC first-team coaches’ selection.
