Woman, teen killed in crash after driver runs stop sign, troopers say

SENECA, S.C. (WIS) - A 23-year-old woman and 16-year-old passenger were killed in a crash in Oconee County after running a stop sign, according to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 7:53 p.m. Friday at the intersection of SC-24 and Coneross Creek Road.

Karen Guerrero, 23, of Central was driving a Jeep Patriot when she ran a stop sign and was hit by a Mack tractor-trailer.

Guerrero and Kimberly Boyzo, 16, of Seneca died at the scene from blunt force trauma, coroner Karl Addis said.

Another passenger was entrapped and had to be mechanically extricated. The passenger was taken by helicopter to a hospital.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to a hospital via EMS, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
