COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolina guards AJ Lawson and Jermaine Couisnard have earned preseason All-SEC accolades ahead of the Gamecocks’ season opener.
Lawson was named to the league’s Preseason All-SEC first team. The junior from Toronto was the team’s leading scorer a year ago averaging 13.4 points per game. He also recorded 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Lawson scored 20 or more for Carolina in six games while posting double figures in points in 23 contests. Lawson started all 31 games for the Gamecocks and averaged just over 29 minutes per game.
Couisnard was named to the Coaches Preseason All-SEC second team following last season. The redshirt sophomore was Carolina’s second-leading scorer with 12.1 points per game. He also averaged a team-high 3.1 assists with 2.8 rebounds. A postseason SEC All-Freshman team selection, Couisnard scored in double figures for the Gamecocks in 18 games including his career-high 28-point effort against Ole Miss.
Lawson, Couisnard, and the Gamecocks will face Coker in an exhibition contest against Coker on November 25 at 6:30 p.m.
