Barnwell Coroner identifies man killed in officer-involved shooting with SLED agents

AIKEN, S.C. (WIS) - The Barnwell Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting with South Carolina Law Enforcement agents.

On January 27th, around 5:40 p.m., SLED attempted to serve an arrest warrant at a home on the 300 block of Litchfield St.

Gunfire was exchanged between Aaron T. Brooker, 22, and SLED agents. A robot was sent into the home and discovered Brooker in an upstairs bedroom. He appeared lifeless.

The Coroner and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene for processing.

Brooker pronounced dead on the scene from a gunshot wound. An autopsy is expected to be performed and a toxicology report is pending.

This incident is being investigated by the Coroner’s Office and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
