COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Cooperative Ministry along with the Internal Revenue Service and the United Way of the Midlands is launching the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program beginning on Feb. 1.
The program allows taxpayers to work with area IRS-trained volunteers to prepare their tax returns.
Officials said volunteers did 8,816 tax returns in 2019, which posted $5.6 million in tax refunds.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program begins with Super Saturday Tax-A-Thon on Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cooperative Ministry located at 3821 West Beltline Boulevard in Columbia.
Starting Feb. 3, there will be 20 locations open to serve taxpayers. Here’s the list:
Locations will be open at varying times until April 15.
This free program is available to taxpayers who make $58,000 or less. Anyone who wishes to use the service should bring a photo ID for each adult on the return and social security cards. Taxpayers on the returns should also provide birth dates, all wage and earning statements, and all tax documents.
