COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Richland County Coroner has identified the pedestrian who died after being hit by several vehicles on I-20 East Thursday morning.

According to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts, 46-year-old Christy Branham of Pelion died at the scene of the collision after being hit in the roadway.

Officials determined the cause of death for Branham was blunt trauma to the body.

The collision happened near the Broad River Road exit, which blocked two lanes. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle collision happened just before 6 a.m. Officials said a 2001 Chevy SUV was headed east on I-20 when Branham walked out into the road. Branham was hit by the SUV and a 2009 Toyota 4-door vehicle.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Richland County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the deadly collision.
