Ga. man wanted for armed robbery arrested after suspicious package found in car during traffic stop

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Deputies have arrested 33-year-old Yohanan Corder after a traffic stop Thursday afternoon where officials believed they found a suspicious package in the car he was driving.

Officials from Richmond County, Ga. contacted deputies in Richland County regarding Corder, who was wanted for armed robbery.

Information led members of the Richland County Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshal to a home on the 4600 block of Oxford Road where investigators believed Corder was staying. Investigators saw Corder leave the home, which prompted the traffic stop on Jackson Boulevard near I-77 Thursday afternoon around 2 p.m.

Authorities found a suspicious package in the car, but officials determined the package was not a threat to the public.

Special Response Teams were sent to the Oxford Road home to check on another suspicious package. Investigators later determined that package was also safe.

Corder is awaiting an extradition hearing at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
