Man wanted for stealing car from SC parking lot with child inside caught in West Virginia after high-speed chase, police say

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The man wanted for stealing a vehicle with a 9-month-old infant inside from a Five Points Chick-fil-A parking lot has been detained after a high-speed chase with law enforcement in another state.

Columbia Police tweeted that David Rodgers Monts was arrested in Greenbrier County, W.V. Monts was found inside a vehicle stolen from a Orange County, NC gas station. The silver Mercedes that was stolen from the Harden Street restaurant was located.

Monts is accused of stealing the running car from the restaurant on Saturday. A 9-month-old child was in the vehicle, and was later located unharmed shortly after the incident.

The mother of the child was not the one driving the vehicle. A relative left the child in the car.
