KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - The Kershaw County coroner has identified the man that died as a result of a motor vehicle accident yesterday evening.
Officials responded to a 911 call at 9:15 p.m. about a man lying in the westbound lane of 1-20 near the rest area in Lugoff.
Units responding to the call found 77-year-old Charles Bryant who had been struck by a vehicle and died at the scene.
According to officials, Bryant parked his car at the eastbound rest area and attempted to walk across 1-20 to the westbound side.
A vehicle struck Bryant, veered to the right, and struck an embankment. EMS transported the driver to the hospital with minor injuries.
The accident is under investigation by Highway Patrol, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office.
