Former Bamberg Detention Center officer charged with misconduct

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents arrested a former Bamberg County Detention Center officer on Thursday in connection with injuries received by a inmate.

Isaac Jackson was charged with misconduct in office and was processed at the Bamberg County Detention Center. According to an Bamberg County affidavit, Jackson is charged with using unnecessary force after restraining an inmate and pushing the inmate’s head into a nearby window and then again into a cell door. The victim was taken to a nearby medical facility to be treated for injuries sustained during the incident that occurred March 15.

Jackson’s case will be prosecuted by the Second Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

The SLED investigation into Jackson’s conduct was requested by the Bamberg County Detention Center.
