18-year-old arrested in connection to Skyland Drive shooting
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - An 18-year-old has been arrested in connection to a shooting that left two people dead on Skyland Drive this weekend.
Genari Gresean McNeil has been charged with two counts of murder, armed robbery, and first-degree burglary.

According to officials, McNeil had an accomplice during the shooting incident that occurred on May 11. CPD investigators are continuing to gather information regarding the suspect’s identity and involvement in the crime.
CPD and the Richland County Coroner’s Office have identified the victims as 23-year-old Mary Carmichael and 26-year-old Jahquan Peterson. Both were shot in the upper body.
Investigators believe the motive behind the crime was armed robbery.
Officials say McNeil was wounded in the incident. It was determined by CPD that he showed up at a local hospital soon after the fatal shootings. The preliminary investigation into the crime scene suggested McNeil was likely injured when a victim returned gunfire during the armed robbery.
McNeil is currently housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
Officers have interviewed neighbors, friends and family members of the victims, and reviewed surveillance video related to the incident.
