‘I don’t know how I’m going to raise my son alone:’ One dead after shooting on Percival Road

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - One man has died after a shooting on Percival Road on Friday.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called just before 2 p.m. about a shooting that happened on the 400 block of Percival Road near Lake Avenue.

Investigators say a male victim was shot outside his Hunters Way Apartment.

WIS spoke with a woman who claims to be the mother of the victim’s child and says this isn’t the first time he was shot.

“I fell to my knees but I’m really numb right now. I’m at a loss for words my son lost his dad and that’s who I really have the most sympathy for. I don’t know how I’m going to raise my son alone,” Braylen Patton, who claims to be the mother of victims son said. “He was funny goofy, he loved to rap, he loved his son. I mean I don’t even know what to say at this time. He’ll forever be missed I know that.”

Deputies are actively searching for suspects and interviewing witnesses in the area.
