CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - New numbers from CNBC show a downward trend of suit sales across the United States in 2018.
Experts say changing fashion trends among America’s biggest traditionally dressed companies could signal the end of the suit and tie as we know it.
One example is Wall Street giant Goldman Sachs, which has started encouraging employees to dress casually.
But not all are ready to hang up formal wear for good.
“You know the fashion trend can only go so far one way before it comes back the other way," said Russell Fowler, clothing consultant at the Haberdashery in Conway. “You just have to watch and be ready, because our customer dictates what we have, if they come in looking for a certain thing we have to have that thing."
Fowler said he’s seen various fluctuating trends in fashion during his 20 years in the industry, but believes suits will always remain in style.
