LAKE CITY, SC (WIS) - A South Carolina teacher is thankful that a former student, who also happens to be an All-Pro NFL linebacker, was also riding down the same rural road as she was when she got a flat tire.

Martha Isbell said she was thankful that Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard was traveling in the same direction when she got a flat tire on April 21.

@Colts Darius Leonard continues to be an outstanding player on and off the field. So thankful to God that he stopped and helped me. Much love!” she wrote on Twitter.

Leonard, who also played at South Carolina State University, already knew Isbell personally - she was his biology teacher at Lake City High School.

Isbell had a lot on her mind on Easter Sunday, her father is battling stage-4 cancer and had “some unexpected expenses” before the tire blew out, FOX 59 in Indianapolis said.

Leonard was drafted in the second round of the NFL Draft in 2018 and became a First-Team All Pro and the Defensive Rookie of the Year in his first season.
