Two dead after vehicle hits tree, catches fire in Clarendon County
CLARENDON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A driver and a passenger have died after their SUV caught fire on Interstate 95 in Clarendon County.
Officials with the South Carolina Department of Public Safety said the two were traveling south on I-95 in a 2005 Hyundai just before 5 p.m. The vehicle ran off the left side of the road and hit a tree. Shortly after, the SUV caught fire.
The crash took place two miles south of Highway 301.
The victims of the crash have not been identified. Also, officials could not determine if the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts due to the vehicle catching fire.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the collision.
