COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The mother of a slain Florida teenager was honored by Benedict College and the City of Columbia on Saturday.
Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, was the Commencement Convocation speaker at Benedict College for the fall commencement exercises.
Fulton was awarded the Doctor of Humane Letters by the institution. She also received a “Key to the City” from the City of Columbia. Fulton and her family created the Trayvon Martin Foundation following her son’s death.
Earlier this year, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were also awarded a “Key to the City” by Mayor Steve Benjamin following their concert at Williams-Brice Stadium.
