Thomas Ravenel released from halfway house

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Former state Treasurer Thomas Ravenel is out of the North Charleston halfway house to which he had been released as part of his sentence for cocaine distribution.

Ravenel was transferred to his home Wednesday, where he will remain under house arrest until March 27. Officials say he will only be able to leave for work.

In 2007, Ravenel pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine and was sentenced to ten months in prison.
