Originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina Dr. Um now regards the Columbia area as his home. Dr. Um received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economic from University of South Carolina-Spartanburg. Following that, he completed his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine (DPM) at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and Board Eligible with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.
Dr. Um completed his medical and surgical training at the University of Pennsylvania-Presbyterian and Wychoff Heights Medical Center in New York City. His four years of training focused on treating foot disorders with medical and surgical means. Dr. Um has worked at level one trauma centers, multiple surgery centers, and wound care centers. He works as part of a multi-disciplinary team treating lower extremity conditions such as: foot trauma, sports injuries, and diabetic foot problems. Dr. Um has an academic interest in diabetic limb salvage and reconstructive surgery.When Dr. Um is not treating patient; he enjoys spending time with his wife (Reth) and his son (Darien). He is also a sports enthusiast that likes to pick to the golf clubs as often as possible. Gardening and other "around the house" projects keeps Dr. Um smiling as well.
