Lt. Governor holds fraud prevention class for seniors

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Lt. Governor Andre Bauer held a senior fraud prevention listening session in West Columbia Thursday.

Bauer says identity fraud is a big problem for seniors, and he gave an example of a new scam.

Someone calls a senior, says they are with the court system, and tells the person that they missed jury duty and a warrant has been issued.

The next listening sessions are coming up in Lancaster on October 22, and Greenwood on October 29.

For more information on the listening sessions, or go to download the new senior fraud prevention resource guide, you can go to the Office of Aging website or email

That guide helps seniors and their caregivers to spot different kinds of fraud and ways to avoid becoming a victim.
