Welcome home ceremonies set for 218th soldiers

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Thursday more members of the 218th National Guard unit will be back in the states.

Officials tell us the next group of soldiers from the 218th will fly in to Fort Riley, Kansas.

That's different from the past waves of the 218th.

Over the past couple weeks, about 1,599 soldiers with the national guard unit returned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

The 218th served in Afghanistan for a year, and most of the 218th guardsmen are home now.

There will be six different homecoming celebrations across the Palmetto State for soldiers who landed in North Carolina last week.
