FIVE POINTS, SC (WIS) - The City of Columbia Police Department has announced that the following streets will be closed for the 2008 St. Patrick's Day Festival in Five Points which will be held on Friday & Saturday, March 14th & 15th, 2008.
Festival Street Closings
Friday, March 14, 2008
4pm - 2100 Greene Street (Greene St. between Pavillion and Harden)
The Five Points Post Office will remain accessible throughout the festival.
5pm - 700 Santee Avenue (Santee Avenue between Harden and Blossom)
10pm - 600 Harden Street (Harden Street between Devine and Blossom)
Lane Shift - Blossom and Harden (Eastbound and Westbound traffic on Blossom St. at Harden St. will be shifted to one (1) lane in each direction to allow for set up of the Blossom St. stage. Two-way traffic will remain in place until approximately 5:00am when the remainder of the streets are shut down.

3am - 2000, 2100 & 2200 Devine Street, 700, 800, 900 & 1000 Harden Street, 2000 & 2100 Greene Street, 700 Saluda Avenue, 700 & 2100 Santee Avenue and 2100 College Street.
As a result of the closing of Harden Street these side street will also be affected: Pendleton St. between Harden and Walnut and Stark St. between Harden and Walnut. Blossom Street between Pickens Street and Hilton Street will also be closed at approximately 5:00 a.m. for the duration of the event. This closure is detailed below in the "Blossom Street Detour".
Blossom Street Detour
Westbound traffic on Blossom Street will be diverted at Woodrow Street and eastbound traffic on Blossom Street will be diverted at Pickens Street. Westbound traffic on Blossom St. will be turned north and south onto Woodrow St. moving traffic to the alternate routes of Millwood Avenue to the north and Rosewood Drive to the south (see attachment "A"). The side streets along Blossom St. between Hilton St. and Woodrow St. will be set up to allow local traffic to exit the area east on Blossom St. Officers and security personnel staffing these areas will give residents complete access to their residences and/or their places of business.
Eastbound traffic on Blossom Street will be turned north and south onto Pickens Street moving traffic to the alternate routes of Rosewood Drive to the south and Gervais Street to the north (see attachment "B"). The side streets along Blossom St. between Laurens St. and Pickens St. will be set up to allow local traffic to exit the area west on Blossom St. Officers and security personnel staffing these areas will give residents complete access to their residences and/or their places of business.
