LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Our suspect is a man with a criminal history that spans four decades. Now he's on the run again.
We're putting the spotlight on Elliot Randolph Hankinson. The 49-year-old from Pelion is accused of beating up his girlfriend multiple times.
This isn't the first time Hankinson's been a wanted fugitive. He has an extensive criminal history, dating back to 1975.
Hankinson's no stranger to law. He's been convicted of crimes 25 different times - everything from stealing copper wires to committing battery with intent to kill. Now he's on the run, accused of repeatedly beating up his girlfriend.
Lexington County Sheriff James Metts says, "He actually beat her pretty severely that it caused bruises about her body."
Deputies think Hankinson beat his girlfriend on multiple occasions, back at her home in Gaston. They say she never came to authorities for help, until a late November day. It was warm, and her co-workers noticed she was wearing a long sweater over her arms.
Deputies say under the sweater, her arms were covered with bruises. Sheriff Metts says, "They encouraged her to come forward and report that to law enforcement."
Since then, deputies have been searching for Hankinson for nearly three months. They believe he's in the Pelion area. Sheriff Metts says, "As long as he's out there, knowing this individual's history, she's at risk and the public's at risk."
If you see Hankinson, contact law enforcement immediately.
