Scientists find sea spiders as big as dinner plates

ANTARCTICA (NBC) - Sea spiders the size of dinner plates and 18-foot-long jellyfish are some of the new creatures discovered under Antarctica.

A team of Australian scientists studying Antarctic waters filmed and captured giant sea creatures - including giant sea spiders and super-long jelly fish.

The new creatures were discovered during a three-month-long expedition to the southern ocean by a fleet of Antarctic marine research ships.

Scientists say the creatures were found more than a mile below the icy surface of the Antarctic waters.

The Australian antarctic division expedition hopes to help scientists monitor the impact of environmental change in Antarctic waters.
