Dr. Daniel Westerkam Named Rehabilitation Medical Director

(White Rock, SC) Lowman Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is pleased to announce Dr. Daniel Westerkam as its rehabilitation medical director. Dr. Westerkam is contracted through Functional Pathways, the rehabilitation therapy provider at Lowman Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. 

"We are most pleased to have Dr. Westerkam working with the therapy staff at Lowman Rehab and Healthcare Center," said Derald Edwards, Administrator of Lowman Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.  "To have a person of his caliber and expertise has taken us to the next level of providing quality care to the residents we serve."

Having a rehabilitation medical director enhances the therapy services provided to Lowman Rehabilitation and Health Care Center and augments its effectiveness, efficiency, professional quality of its services, and the coordination among users of its therapy services.

"Dr. Westerkam is available to address any questions that may arise in the care that we provide, to not only our short term patients, but also, to the long term residents that we serve," said Wendy Reeves, Clinical Manager of Therapy Services at Lowman Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. "We look forward to the continued growth of our short term rehab program and firmly believe that Dr. Westerkam will help us to further enhance the care that we provide to the community."

Dr. Westerkam serves as Associate Medical Director at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Columbia. He is a board member of the South Carolina Spinal Cord Injury Research Board and member of the South Carolina Medical Association. Other memberships include the American Medical Association and Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Located at 201 Fortress Drive in White Rock, Lowman Rehabilitation and Health Care Center was formerly knows as the Lowman Nursing Center. The modified name reflects the increasing demand for short-term rehabilitation services in addition to skilled nursing care.
