Woman involved in wreck with cyclists charged with murder

LANCASTER, SC (WIS) - The woman who police say hit and killed two bicyclists who were on a charity ride is being charged with murder.

Sharon Snipes King was charged with two counts of reckless homicide after turning herself in Thursday, according to Highway Patrol spokesman Ron Johnson.

King is being held at the Lancaster County jail on $10,000 bond.

Tom Hoskins of Columbia was part of a charity bicycle event when authorities say King's SUV hit and killed him in Lancaster County.

Lee Anne Barry, a North Carolina cyclist, was also killed in the crash.

The Hoskins family has has released a statement:

"Just like a bicycle, the wheels of justice must turn. Nothing can replace the lives of Lee Ann Barry and Tom Hoskins. It is our hope that those operating an motor vehicle will be focused on the road before them. The death rate continues to rise due to the inattentiveness of motor vehicle operators. Two spouses must now walk through life alone raising families."
