Aiken DPS sergeant injured when patrol car hits deer

AIKEN, SC (WIS) - A Sergeant with the Aiken Department of Public Safety was injured Tuesday  morning after a deer struck his patrol car.

The highway patrol says the accident happened around 4:45am Tuesday morning on SC 19 when Sgt. David Burton was responding to a call.

Investigators believe a deer struck his patrol car, causing it to lose power. The car then ran off the road and struck a tree.

Burton was transported to Aiken County Hospital and he is expected to make a full recovery.
