(Columbia) December 19, 2006 - Inside the State House Tuesday, new plans for hydrogen energy are being laid in South Carolina.
House Speaker Bobby Harrell (R-Charleston County) announced legislation that would focus on hydrogen technology. The speaker was joined by representatives of the hydrogen energy field.
The legislation would help advance hydrogen research as well as encourage private sector involvement.
"This legislation would provide incentives for companies to come to South Carolina, and will lead to job creation," said Harrell.
During Tuesday's announcement, Columbia Mayor Bob Coble said the city will have a hydrogen fueling station in Columbia by the end of next year.
