(Washington-AP) August 7, 2006 - Toyota has something new to boast about. Two of its models are getting top marks for keeping people safe.
The 2007 Camry and the 2005 RAV-4 have scored the highest in front and side crash tests done by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The redesigned Camry has curtain-style side air bags.
Also getting top scores in the frontal tests are the 2006 Kia Optima and the 2007 Dodge Caliber. But officials say the Caliber scores next to last in side tests. Still, that's an improvement over the car it's replacing, the Dodge Neon, which was rated poor.
Among other vehicles tested, the 2006 Lincoln Zephyr and 2005 and 2006 Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage get the Institute's second-highest ranking of acceptable in front and side tests.
