Two dead in shooting in Pelzer

(Pelzer-AP) July 31, 2006 - Two men have been shot and killed in Pelzer and a suspect has surrendered to police.

Greenville County Deputy Coroner Linda Holbrook identified the victims of the shooting Saturday night as 26-year-old Christopher William Garland and 21-year-old Kamron Jack Wade.

Holbrook says Garland was shot in the chest and Wade was shot in the head.

Twenty-one-year-old Brandon Heath Clark has turned himself in to Greenville County sheriff's deputies.

Clark is charged with two counts of murder and one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Lieutenant Shea Smith says a caller told deputies late Saturday night that a fight involving baseball bats and guns erupted as a party was ending.

Smith says investigators didn't know Sunday how or why the fight started.
