(Rochester, NY-AP) December 18, 2005 - Be honest ... do you always wash your hands after using a public bathroom?
A new survey shows most people claim they do, but not as many actually do it.
A Harris Interactive survey on behalf of the American Society for Microbiology and the Soap and Detergent Association shows some 91 percent of people say they do scrub up after going to the bathroom in public ... but only 83 percent were actually observed doing it in cities from New York to Chicago to San Francisco.
Not washing up is a big problem. The World Health Organization says bad hand hygiene is considered the leading cause of healthcare-associated infections.
