(San Jose, California-AP) Oct. 27, 2005 - Having a problem with your digital camera or camcorder? If it has something to do with a faulty imaging chip, you may be able to get it fixed for free.
Electronics companies are offering free repairs for more than 80 mostly-older models, for defects that lead to either distorted or blank images on the viewfinder or display.
The defective chip was made between 2002 and last year by Sony. The affected models including ones made by Sony, Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Ricoh, Fuji and Konica.
The companies say the repair offer is only valid if the problem is linked to the imaging chip.
