(Cayce) Nov. 2, 2005 - Lexington School District Two and Cayce leaders met Wednesday discussing a proposed football stadium for Brookland-Cayce High.

The school district and Cayce have disagreed on how the land should be used. The dispute centers over a district-wide school plan designed to bring $50 million worth of improvements to the district.

The school district owns a field and parking lot off Knox Abbott Drive. The district wants to build the new stadium there.

In July, Cayce City Council rejected the proposal. The district is suing Cayce because the city won't approve the proposal.

Cayce leaders say if the school expands to Knox Abbott Drive it will erode tax bases. They want the stadium to Front State Street instead. The city attorney tells News 10 that the council has concerns over parking and traffic, especially near a busy street like Knox Abbott. He also says local businesses don't favor the new stadium.

The school district says they are going forward with their lawsuit.
