Kershaw County Coroner identifies victim reported as fifth Florence-related death

KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The South Carolina Department of Public Safety is reporting a storm-related death out of Kershaw County bringing the total number of Florence-related deaths in South Carolina to five.

The Kershaw County Coroner identified the victim as 42-year-old Jeffrey B. Youngren.

DPS says the collision happened at about 7 a.m. on Sunday on Interstate 20 near the 106-mile marker.

Youngren's pick-up truck was traveling west on I-20 when it went off the roadway and struck an overpass support beam. Officials say Youngren died on the scene. The Kershaw County Coroner says the weather played a big part in his death.

Several people have been killed due to the Florence, including an elderly couple in Loris, SC who died due to carbon monoxide poisoning from a generator.
