(WIS) - A former South Carolina attorney general is now the interim chairman of Santee Cooper's board of directors.
Governor Henry McMaster announced the appointment Monday. According to the governor's office, Charlie Condon will begin serving immediately.
But, a bipartisan group of state senators say McMaster can't appoint Condon on his own, according to The Post and Courier of Charleston.
Those lawmakers sent letters to McMaster, telling him the position couldn't be filled under state law without legislative approval. Lawmakers didn't vote on Condon's nomination in regular or special session.
All of this comes in wake of the failed VC summer nuclear project in Fairfield County.
